Update Team

Update an existing team on a live LiteLLM proxy.

Setup

LITELLM_BASE_URL  — e.g. https://my-proxy.example.com
LITELLM_API_KEY   — proxy admin key

API reference: https://litellm.vercel.app/docs/proxy/team_based_routing

Ask the user

  1. team_id (required) — if they don't have it, list teams first:
    curl -s "$BASE/team/list" -H "Authorization: Bearer $KEY"

  2. What to change — any combination of:
    • team_alias (string)
    • max_budget (float)
    • models (list)
    • tpm_limit / rpm_limit (int)
    • blocked (bool — blocks all requests from this team)

Run

curl -s -X POST "$BASE/team/update" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "team_id": "<team_id>",
    "max_budget": <value>,
    "models": [<models>],
    "tpm_limit": <value>
  }'

Only include the fields being changed.

Output

Show the updated team_id, team_alias, max_budget, models.

Summary

Update an existing team on a live LiteLLM proxy by collecting team_id and requested changes (budget, models, limits), then issuing a POST request to /team/update. The skill guides users through team lookup and parameter specification, with curl as the execution method.

Use Cases

  • Adjust team budget limits on a LiteLLM proxy
  • Update team model access permissions
  • Modify team rate limits (TPM/RPM)
  • Block or unblock a team from proxy access
  • Change team alias for organizational tracking
  • Manage multiple team configurations across a proxy infrastructure

Quality Notes

  • Strengths: Clear two-step workflow (ask user, then execute); references official LiteLLM API docs; shows optional team lookup pattern; specifies allowed-tools constraint (curl only)
  • Strengths: Concise parameter documentation with type hints (string, float, int, bool, list)
  • Weaknesses: No error handling guidance — what should agent do if curl fails? No validation of team_id existence before update attempt
  • Weaknesses: JSON payload template shows all fields but instructions say 'only include fields being changed' — agent must dynamically construct payload, no pattern shown for conditional JSON
  • Weaknesses: No examples of actual API responses or failure scenarios (e.g., invalid team_id, auth failure)
  • Weaknesses: Setup assumes LITELLM_BASE_URL and LITELLM_API_KEY are pre-configured in environment — no guidance on detecting or prompting for missing credentials
  • Weaknesses: Output section lists fields to show but doesn't specify format (raw JSON? formatted table?) or error response handling
