Delete MCP Server

Remove an MCP server registration from a live LiteLLM proxy.

Setup

LITELLM_BASE_URL — e.g. https://my-proxy.example.com
LITELLM_API_KEY — proxy admin key

Ask the user

  1. server_id — if they don't have it, list first:
    curl -s "$BASE/v1/mcp/server" -H "Authorization: Bearer $KEY"

  2. Confirm — show the server name/URL and ask for confirmation.

Run

curl -s -X DELETE "$BASE/v1/mcp/server/<server_id>" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $KEY"

Output

Confirm deletion. Note that any agents using this MCP server will lose access to its tools.

Summary

This skill guides an agent to delete an MCP server registration from a LiteLLM proxy by collecting a server_id, confirming with the user, and calling the DELETE /v1/mcp/server/{server_id} endpoint. The skill uses curl with Bearer token authentication and includes an optional list step to help users find the server_id if needed.

Use Cases

  • Remove unused MCP server registrations from a LiteLLM proxy
  • Decommission an MCP server and revoke agent access
  • Clean up test or development MCP server entries
  • Manage MCP server lifecycle in a live LiteLLM environment

Quality Notes

  • Skill includes helpful pre-flight step to list available servers if user lacks server_id
  • Clear section hierarchy with Setup, Ask the user, Run, and Output phases
  • User confirmation step before deletion mitigates accidental data loss
  • Prerequisite environment variables (LITELLM_BASE_URL, LITELLM_API_KEY) are clearly documented
  • Instructions note downstream impact: 'agents using this MCP server will lose access' — good safety communication
  • Scope is narrow and well-defined: limited to a single proxy API operation
  • Security best practice followed: sensitive credentials passed via environment variables, not hardcoded
  • Minor: Does not document error handling (e.g., what if server_id does not exist, or DELETE fails)
